Economic and Social Values of Cypress Forests in South West NSW (2010)

An analysis of economic and social values of cypress forests of south-western NSW was required by the NSW Natural Resources Commission (NRC). The study included industry profitability, value adding and export sales, economic contribution to the community, employment in the local timber industry (direct and indirect), other industries supported by the timber industry’s presence along with the social impact of closure. Report context included the economy of the bioregion, structure of the cypress industry on public land, status of timber resources on public and private land, other industries in the region’s State Forests, tourism and the socioeconomic profiles of towns of interest in the bioregion. The research was completed by Michael Clarke.
