Policy Review – Disaster Relief for NSW Fishers (2012)

The project reviewed disaster relief policy affecting commercial fishers operating in NSW waters. It included analysis of Australian and NSW Government policy; consideration of opportunities to address the exclusion of commercial fishers from current programs; and recommendations for a formal process to provide NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) management charge relief following a natural disaster. The review was prepared with the assistance of the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, NSW DPI and the Professional Fishermen’s Association. The review was completed by Michael Clarke.
