AgEconPlus facilitated an Australian Cocoa Industry workshop to establish strategic directions and research priorities for the fledgling Australian cocoa industry. Australia’s niche is likely to be in single origin, high quality chocolate grown in ‘high tech’ plantations. There is a favourable market outlook for this style of product. Research priorities include registration of production chemicals, improved cultivars and commercialisation of a pod splitting machine. Work completed for RIRDC by Michael Clarke.
