Regulatory Costs and Assistance to the Red Meat and Livestock Industry (2012)

The purpose of this project was to provide an analysis of regulatory costs and assistance to the red meat and livestock industry. The project report identifies major cost items; how regulatory burden has changed over the past decade; how the Australian cost of regulation compares to that in the United States and New Zealand; assistance provided to red meat industries in other countries; and recommendations on which Australian regulatory costs should be targeted for further policy analysis and reform. The study was completed for Meat and Livestock Australia by ProAnd Associates and the team included Winifred Perkins, Mike Hayward and Michael Clarke.
